Frequently Asked Questions

Why host a bed & breakfast?

No matter what kind of space or room you have to host, the bnb services makes it safe and secure to host travelers. You are in full control of your availability, prices, house rules, and how you interact with guests. Guests are screened — bnb always requires guests to provide certain information before they can book with you — such as a confirmed phone number and email address.

How do I accept payments?

Once your listing is set up on the bnb site, you can connect a bank account with your listing. Everything is secure, and everything goes through the website. It’s pretty slick!

What if someone tries to book a reservation late that same day?

You can set the time in which you accept bookings that day. If you need a full 24 hours notice for someone making a reservation, this is all set this up in your listing. Although the more flexible you are, more bookings you’re likely to get.

Can I offer extra amenities for an additional cost?

Yes, you can put the rates in your house rules and/or amenity limitations, which guests must acknowledge before booking, then request payment through the resolution center after the booking is made.

How should I filter guests?

After a few times hosting, you start to get the hang of things, but in the beginning it can be nerve-wracking. Here are some red flags to look for:
1) If anyone asks to pay in person, decline. All transactions go through the website and is secure.
2) The visitor doesn’t have any reviews yet. To be on the safe side, you can decline anyone that doesn’t have a review in their profile.
3) If someone is wanting to book for someone else. If the person is legit, they should be booking the reservation themselves.
4) If you just feel the request is shady or doesn’t feel right — don’t worry. You don’t have to have a reason to decline — simply decline.

Does the bnb cover damages?

The bnb Host Guarantee provides protection for up to $1,000,000 to a host for damages to covered property in the rare event of guest damages above the security deposit or if no security deposit is in place. … The Host Guarantee Program isn’t insurance and doesn’t replace your homeowners or renters insurance.

Do I have to make breakfast for my guests?

No, just because it’s called a bed and breakfast, you don’t have to provide breakfast — you only have to include the amenities you list.
